There are five main types of hair extensions, and it is usually a matter of preference combined with the type of hair you have that determines which hair extensions are right for you.

  1. Lace closure

Lace closure
Lace Closures are a fairly popular item for women who care about their hair. The flexibility and versatility of closures makes them applicable for just about all types of hair, whether natural, scanty, permed. Lace closures are unique hair pieces in which each hair strands are tied onto a piece of lace. The laces are either beige or dark brown.

Lace closures are applied by sewing down the sides and back and then gluing it at the hairline or depending on the skill level of the stylist it can be sewn at the hairline. 90% of the closures in this album are sewn completely at the hairline and no glue was used to apply. Closure allow freestyle parting which means it can be parted and styled in any matter.

The hair closure can be placed anywhere where the illusion of a part would like to be achieved be it at the center or side of the head’s front. Closures can be glued in place or sewn in.

  1. Clip in hair extension

If you’ve never tried extensions before, clip in extensions might be a great way to enhance your hair volume. They are temporary extensions that you can put in and take out whenever you want, and you don’t have to have a professional put them in your hair.

  1. Tape in hair extension

Tape in extensions are a relatively new method of extensions, and seem to be getting pretty positive reviews. You can be in and out of the salon in about an hour, and there’s no stress on the scalp because the tape lays flat and isn’t uncomfortable. They are also a good compromise in size between the large clip in extensions and the small micro link extensions. The one unfortunate piece is that these extensions aren’t ideal for high buns or ponytails because the tape has to go in horizontally, and therefore can usually be seen if you put your hair up high enough. They are known as the best way to prevent damaged hair from extensions though.

  1. Single and double drawn hair

Single drawn hair is one bundle of hair taken from one donor and then being placed in a weft. Hair in each strand barely has the same length, so the hair becomes thinner when getting close to the ends, while it is thicker on the top. Single drawn extension is the most common extension type because less work involved in processing and low cost as well.

Double drawn hair contains hair that is all the same length.  The hair is thick and full from top to bottom. Double drawn hair blends beautifully with all hair lengths, even short hair. Because it’s so thick from the top to the ends, even women with chin length bobs can wear double drawn extensions and have it look like their own hair.
